Project Nemhesys was an Erasmus+ programme with the purpose of providing qualified staff with the essential technical and bioinformatic knowledge and skills on next generation sequencing (NGS), in order to be able to carry out NGS studies and perform some of the most common types of analyses.
The primary purpose of Nemhesys was to cultivate a highly skilled workforce by offering an innovative, demand-driven Master class. This specialized training was crafted to equip qualified personnel and scientists with the essential technical and bioinformatic expertise required for NGS.
Participants obtained comprehensive theoretical foundations, coupled with hands-on practical experience, enabling them to confidently design and execute NGS studies, as well as perform a wide array of the most common analytical procedures associated with NGS data. A particular emphasis of the project was placed on the clinical utility of NGS, especially within the context of haematological pathologies.
Beyond training individuals, Nemhesys aspired to make substantial contributions to the broader scientific community. It seeked to provide robust theoretical underpinnings and practical methodologies for the generation, efficient management, and insightful analysis of vast NGS datasets.
Furthermore, the project was positioned at the forefront of a new health revolution, actively contributing to the convergence of Genomics and Big Data. This integration was crucial for advancing personalized medicine.
A key objective of the Nemhesys project was to empower the medical community by facilitating the seamless integration of NGS into routine healthcare practices. By training medical professionals in the implementation of NGS, the project aimed to help them navigate and apply the new paradigm of precision medicine. This includes enabling practitioners to leverage genetic insights to select the most effective medications and treatment strategies tailored to individual patients, thereby optimizing therapeutic outcomes.
The Consortium was built of a group of 5 Higher Education Institutions represented by leading researcher in their field, whose aim is to transmit the knowledge from their common research projects, such as HARMONY Alliance, and other common initiatives into education practice.
This core group was complemented with strong industrial partners to provide expertise on punctual aspects of training related to the medical sector.
Artelnics played a vital role within the Nemhesys project as a key member of the consortium, by providing artificial intelligence solutions and the usage of OpenNN wich is a framework that allows developers to build artificial intelligence models using cutting edge algorithms.
This library is open source and it is being used by many thousands of machine learning researchers worldwide. In order to facilitate the use of machine learning by companies, Artelnics has created Neural Designer. This platform allows to analyze data and build predictive models with just a few clicks, without programming.
Our team of experts can help you apply artificial intelligence to gain powerful insights and make better decisions about the future.
